Malachy graduated from the ‘Northern Ireland School of Podiatry in 1984 with a distinction.

Malachy is a ‘Podiatrist’ with almost 40 years 'Professional' experience & is affiliated with the following professional bodies.

​

      –  Member of ‘The Royal College of Podiatry’ (London).

      –  Member of ‘The Royal College of Podiatry’ (Northern Ireland branch).

      –  Regulated by the ‘Health & Care Professions’ Council  ‘HCPC’ (London).

      –  Associate member of the ‘Royal Society of Medicine’ (London).

 

A few weeks after Malachy's professional graduation’ in July 1984, Malachy quickly commenced practice with the National Health Service where he worked in the Downpatrick, Ballynahinch & Newcastle areas of Co.Down.

As a 21 year old ‘Graduate Podiatrist’, Malachy worked alongside his ‘fabulous' manager, mentor and highly respected colleague, Mrs Mary O’Prey.

Podiatry services were provided for;

    –  An ‘Acute hospital’ facility.

    –  A ‘Minor Surgery Clinic’.

    –  A ‘Phsychiatric hospital’ facility.

    –  A number of ‘Community based’ clinics.

    –  Domicile Podiatry services for the Downpatrick, Newcastle & Ballynahinch districts of Co.Down.

In January of 1986, Malachy relocated (within the NHS) to work in the Lisburn Road, Balmoral & Finaghy districts of South Belfast.

​

In early 1987, the current 'Practice' premises (26 Finaghy Road South) were purchased.

​

In October of 1987, Malachy was promoted within the 'South Belfast Podiatry Department’.

​

In November 1987, (after significant refurbishment works) the current practice opened at 26 Finaghy Road South.

When first opened, 'The Practice' operating hours were Mon - Fri, (5 pm - 9 pm) & Saturday’s 8 am - 1 pm.

​

In the ‘Spring’ of 1998, Malachy resigned from his position in the 'National Health Service' & commenced full time ‘Private Practice’ at 26 Finaghy Road South.

​

In the Spring of 2018,  Malachy celebrated a fabulous milestone of 30 successful years in private practice.

​

On 23rd September 2022,  Malachy received the annual  "Royal College of Podiatry Award"

                                             (the awards ceremony held in the 'House of Lords' (Palace of Westminster in London).

​

10th January 2024 - (the new completely reconstructed 'Practice Website' went 'Online').

As another milestone approaches in July of 2024.

I very happily look back over my 40 years in professional Podiatry and I can truthfully say that I would do it all again!   

To date, I have had the absolute pleasure of helping many many people across our broad society with simple & complex foot ailments.

At the same time, I have also enjoyed the benefits of a fabulous career and an unending term of employment!
